The purpose of this assignment was to increase our literacy, as well as create a passion for literacy and sharing it with others. 9/21-9/28: Weekly Reflection

Over the past week, my reading time increased immensely.   I think I am finally getting used to reading a newspaper and reading something other than a textbook everyday.   Over these past three weeks, my knowledge and understanding of the importance of literacy has increased greatly.   Unlike my attitude towards literacy before, I now realize the impact literacy has on my life daily.   This literacy log has helped to go outside my comfort zone and explore texts I never would have before.   I now feel confident in my ability to share my knowledge of literacy with others, and I look forward to sharing this information in my future classroom.   I feel that through my exploration with various texts, I am now aware of the various materials I can use in my classroom.   By using a wide variety of texts, I feel I can create a passion for literacy amongst my students.   I feel this task is important for me to carry out as a teacher because it will be something my students and I can share together.   I also feel this will be important to incorporate into my future classroom because by doing this, I will not only create a passion for reading, but for my content area as well, which is ultimately the goal I would like to achieve.
