Reinforcement Polygon Activity

Build a "feel" box from a cardboard box by cutting a hole large enough for a hand to fit through. Cut shapes-squares, rectangles, octagons, etc.-from cardboard and place them into the box. Without revealing the contents, have students put a hand into the hole of the box. Without revealing the contents, have students put a hand into the hole, grasp a cutout, and guess its shape by how it feels. Ask the students to note the number of sides and corners they feel. After students have made their guesses, have each pull the cutout from the box to check the accuracy of the guess
