Autobiography

I was born on August 21, 1983, in West Union, Iowa. I was the first child to join the family, followed by four brothers. My parents raised my brothers and me with strong morals, values and a great work ethic. My family and I grew up on small farm outside of St. Lucas, Iowa. Growing up on a farm has blessed me in many ways, including helping me find the beliefs and morals that are very important to me today.

I attended Turkey Valley Community High School where I participated in a lot of valuable activities. These activities included athletics, service learning projects and church youth groups. During my junior and senior years I was given the opportunity to work with elementary students. During this time I realized I loved being able to work with and assist elementary students. I have a deep passion about effective elementary teaching. I could not envision myself doing anything other than teaching elementary students.
I am currently attending Wartburg College and I will graduate in 2007. My future plans include teaching at the upper elementary level or middle school math in the surrounding area and hopefully coaching basketball at the high school level. I would like to remain active in my surrounding community, and I also plan to be active in the school district in which I will teach.
