Johnson, N. (1995). The John Wooden Pyramid of Success. Canada
I am an avid Des Moines Register reader especially the sports section.
I read the Des Moines Register everyday during chapel time to relax
and get more information about the sports world. I also read the Des
Moines Register to catch up on local and national news.
I am half-way through the first chapter of The John Wooden Pyramid of
Success, I am excited to keep reading the rest of the great book. John
Wooden is a legendary UCLA basketball coach and is probably the greatest
coach in the history of sports. John Wooden is much more than a coach;
he is also a philosopher and the creator of the pyramid of success.
I feel this book will be extremely helpful for my future teaching especially
in the leadership category.
1/11 Progress note:
I read the Des Moines Register during chapel time for a quick overview
of the major articles. I read the newspaper during chapel time to relax
from classes and improve my overall knowledge of local and national
news.
I read the rest of the first chapter of The John Wooden Pyramid of Success.
The first chapter reviewed John Wooden’s legendary achievements.
I was really impressed by how successful John Wooden was at coaching
and a role model to so many people. I also want to lead by example and
become a role model to my students.

Slavin, R. Educational Psychology: Theory and Practice. Pearson Company:
San Francisco, 2006.
During Chapel time I had enough time to read the Des Moines register
to get some information about the local and national sports world. Hopefully
I have the opportunity to read the local newspaper during a break from
teaching.
In Educational Psychology class we were required read the second chapter
of Educational Psychology: Theory and Practice. The chapter overviewed
famous psychologists including Piaget, Vygotsky, Kohlberg and Erikson.
I realize these are very important psychologists which I will learn
a lot of effective strategies to use in the classroom.
1/13 Progress note:
In Educational Psychology we were required to read Chapter 2 and parts
of Chapter 3. The Chapter explained the development of children from
pre-school years through the adolescent years. The student’s development
is important because I want to know how the students are feeling as
I am teaching in the classroom.
1/14 Progress note:
Saturday evening I decided to keep reading the book titled The John
Wooden Pyramid of Success. I started reading the beginning of chapter
two. The second chapter describes the biography of John Wooden and looks
into his long time accomplishments. I want to be the leader and successor
like John Wooden in the classroom. I feel like I can accomplish these
goals by learning about great leaders like John Wooden.
