Philosophy of Education

I view teaching as an opportunity to inspire and challenge students. As a teacher, it is my goal to enhance student learning and watch the students grow into their full potential. I am passionate about finding the most effective ways of stimulating student growth among those who will enter my classroom. Through the classes I have taken at Wartburg College and my experiences in the classroom, I feel I can fulfill these expectations.

One of my goals is to motivate students while teaching them through meaningful and challenging lessons. I feel it is my duty to make sure all my students are being motivated in order to push the students to their full potential. Another goal I have for myself is to give the students the freedom to express themselves. The students should be able to show their own creativity without negative consequences. Students should be able to realize their strengths and weaknesses without negative criticism. After I have identified their strengths and weaknesses, the curriculum can be modeled to fit all their needs.
I want to create a safe learning environment for all students. I want the students to feel emotionally, physically and socially safe in my classroom. If the students do not feel safe and comfortable in my classroom, then my teaching will not be effective to all students. I want to be a teacher that is approachable by all people including students’ parents, administrators, other teachers, and people in the community.
