Autobiography I was born to Dennis and Kathy Tieskotter on February 1, 1985, in LaCrosse Wisconsin. I was welcomed home from the hospital by two eager sisters and was later blessed with two brothers. I was raised on our family dairy farm where I was taught strong morals and values. I was given excellent work ethics by actively participating in the chores that were expected of me on a daily basis. We are a close knit family, actively involved in church and community functions. Throughout junior high and high school I was actively a mentor to elementary students. From this moment on I knew my passion in life was to work with children. My parents have said that I told everyone that I wanted to be an elementary teacher when I grew up. So it is extremely comforting to know that I am where I belong in the world. Through my actions and previous experiences I feel I am headed in the right direction with my life. It is a great feeling to know how much a child benefits from my guidance and instruction. The best part of high school was my senior seminar class. We went into the elementary and middle school to help out children with their reading and writing skills. I was fortunate to work with a fifth grade classroom of special needs children. It was my favorite experience of all the teaching placements I have been in so far. This experience convinced me there are no limits to children's learning capabilities. It was this experience that showed me, elementary education was the perfect place for me. Instead of working, I am currently volunteering some of my time at the local daycare center here in Waverly. I am also currently volunteering my time to my husband's business in the surrounding areas. I feel that through these work experiences I am adequately prepared for the wonderful world of teaching. A good work ethic and communication skills play an equal part in today's teaching world, also in working with children, parents, and my fellow teachers. I am currently married as a senior at Wartburg College and plan to graduate in May of 2007. My future plans are to teach at an elementary school around Waverly or the surrounding area. I would specifically enjoy kindergarten, but am excited to teach at any grade level. I plan to settle down and raise a family once I find my permanent teaching position. Along with this, I plan to remain active in my community as well as the school district in which I am teaching. |
