About the Creator

Justine Trueblood

I am a second year student at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. My major is Elementary Education with an endorsement in Reading, and I will graduate in May of 2009. I created this website as part of the requirements for an education class I was enrolled in, Teaching with Text and Technology (ED 350), during the Winter Term of 2007. The goal of creating the website was to both (1) demonstrate our knowledge of various forms of technology and their many uses in the classroom and (2) create an age appropriate, content area lesson plan that incorporated several different reading strategies. One can find the link for my lesson plan on my homepage.
I grew up and graduated from Webster City, Iowa, where my family still resides. My family is very important to me, and I love to spend time with them whenever my busy schedule allows. I am truly grateful for having parents who did their best to instill such strong morals, values, and convictions within me. Because of them, I believe I can do whatever I set my mind to, that we are all created equal, that every person has the ability to learn, that it is important to appreciate our differences, and that I should never back down when my heart tells me to do what's right.
One of my many loves and hobbies is being outdoors. This is probably why I have spent the last five summers working for the City of Webster City at the Webster City Municipal Swimming Pool. It might not hurt that I only live one block away from the pool, however! I have held many different positions with the City including: lifeguard, swimming lessons and aquatots instructor, aquacise instructor, and pool supervisor. This summer (2007) will be my third year as the Manager of the Outdoor Pool. Not only do I feel I am lucky to be outdoors every day, but I have learned so much through my experiences there. I appreciate the opportunities the City of Webster City has given me through my employment with them. It really has been a huge learning experience for me, and I use the knowledge and experiences I've gained there in my every day life. Holding so much responsiblity and working at the pool has helped me develop my organization and planning skills, has taught me crucial people skills, how to remain calm in a crisis, and what it means to act professionally. I wouldn't trade my experiences there for the world!
